Efforts to protect the eelgrass in Richardson Bay is showing signs of effectiveness, according to recent findings presented to Richardson Bay Regional Agency. Researchers have found that damage to the eelgrass has plateaued and the acreage is no longer decreasing. Eelgrass beds are beneficial for the environment, but illegally anchored vessels in the bay have caused extensive damage to the plant.
