Undeterred, Four Media Professionals Start five19publishing and Marin Living magazine in the Middle of a Global Pandemic

A group of talented media and journalism professionals have turned decades of experience into a new Marin County lifestyle, media and marketing company called five19publishing that includes the new Marin Living magazine.

“The Covid-19 pandemic compelled us to reevaluate our professional paths and personal passions. Recognizing the chemistry the four of us shared, we decided it was time to forge our own path despite the global uncertainty,” says CEO Jessica Cline. Change is in the air as Marin’s demographic skews younger with more people relocating from San Francisco to Marin County for a change of pace. Noticing the shift, the four entrepreneurs — Jessica Cline (CEO), Dina Grant (advertising director), Casey Gillespie (creative director) and Daniel Jewett (executive editor) — joined forces and created multiple content platforms to highlight this new perspective and bring it to the local community.

From the beginning, the four knew that their superpower is storytelling. Five19publishing’s mission is to filter timely content from Marin County, the Bay Area, wine country and national sources through a local lens to provide engaging and enticing community-focused features. Marin Living magazine covers the people, places, events and stories that make this corner of the globe the distinct and highly sought-after destination that it is. Editorial coverage celebrates health, culture, the arts, travel, home, design, outdoor recreation, style, food, drink and personalities. The content brings the next generation of Marinites into the conversation while continuing to engage those who have built their life here. Through sleek, modern production aesthetics and breathtaking imagery to insightful and thought-provoking journalism, Marin Living magazine puts a fresh spin on the local experience.

This innovative approach doesn’t just stop with the journalism and graphics, uplifting and propeling clients’ branding and marketing initiatives is equally important. “We go beyond the traditional approach to media advertising and offer clients something more — a complete marketing experience,” Cline says. Marin Living develops comprehensive campaigns that are built for maximum exposure and growth. The team creates personalized strategies that include multiplatform marketing initiatives, tackling advertisers’ desires to engage potential customers wherever they consume media.

Marin Living magazine is delivered to 30,000 homes in Marin County and northern San Francisco with a combined readership of 90,000, including retail and newsstand locations. The Marin Living audience is sophisticated, educated, generous and well-traveled. Readers put a premium on living a healthy lifestyle and enjoying the natural beauty of Marin. Ninety-two percent fall within the 36 to 74 age group.
