It was an election for the history books. Voter turnout was the highest in more than a century, and for the first time in California history, ballots were mailed to every registered voter. “Covid has definitely presented challenges. We’ve been implementing many changes as a result of recent legislation that was passed in response to the pandemic — changes such as sending all active registered voters a ballot in the mail and changes to polling places,” says Lynda Roberts, Marin County’s registrar of voters. After certifying the election in December Roberts added: “It was an election like no other. This one will definitely live in our collective memory for a very long time.”
